I always wonder at public grief for the deaths of those we have never met, but some people work their way into our hearts, and so their deaths feel personal.
R.I.P. Gil. Thankyou for the wonderful, intimate show you performed in early 1999 at the Bottom Line in New York.
and thank you for posting those special shows which made my appreciation of this sensitive soul even greater

Yours,

He will surely be missed. By all those who feel there is much wrong around. Peace to you brother Gill. And to all in this many times hell of a life.
ReplyDeleteRIP to a great artist and troubled man. Good to see a new post from you here -- your blog is really great and a tribute to the sound the Gil pretty much perfected.

I'm saddened by his passing, although to be honest, i've been mourning him for some time now. So many perceptive and sensitive artists seem to get messed up and brutalised by their insights. It can be a cold world. His legacy is how I will remember him.
ReplyDeletePeace Simon, haven't been here for a while. Keep on posting, people are paying attention.
I love your blog here. Wish you would come back and post more often. Rest In Poetry Gil

ReplyDeletePeace go with you Amy too. What a horrable Year so far
the day in which gil, died i hadn't have heard his music in a while. but that day, on my way to college without knowing what had happened to him, i felt a great need of hearing his music on the subway. i turned on my mp3 and there he was, he told me: it's your world, and you don't have to be lonely, cause in your world, you are trully free.
ReplyDeletei remember felling in love again with his soul, there goes a brother who i will always be grateful to.
thank you for posting the bootlegs, peace go with you too!
