Hi folks, welcome to 2013 and the latest in a series of seventeen rhodes compilations. As per usual it comes with 70s jazz and brazilian flavours, and plenty of foonky electric piano. Check out the previews below ....
This compilation is dedicated to the late José Roberto Bertrami, keyboard player from Azymuth, who provides the final track. Thanks as always to my fellow music bloggers. Hope you enjoy this selection, please say hi ....

I find your blog an amazing source of education for me, thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteDear Simon .Happy new year ! Thanks for this and all the staff you brought to us through the years.Don't disappear for that long man! Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteLoved Nil's Jazz Ensamble, I'm sure this will be just as good, thanks for your hard work!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Simon and
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Thanks a lot for this great compilation.
Cheers
Don't worry man: I follow you every day for some new post.
ReplyDeleteGo on and thank you: you're doing a fantastic "rare" job.
Mediafire means:
ReplyDeletePermission Denied.
"Vera Cruz" by Stanley Turrentine can be downloaded from one of these fine retailers.
???
Good to get another comp from you.
ReplyDeleteOne of my musical highlights of 2012 was seeing Alice Russell performing with Quantic & El Combo Barbaro, featuring, on Rhodes, Peruvian legend Alfredo Linares. I don't think you have features any of Linares' work on your blog yet. One for the future perhaps?
The final Bertrami track reminds me a great Italian artist, Sergio Endrigo, and his marvellous song from an album with Vinicius and Ungaretti http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pw3AFdl8xBk&
ReplyDeleteRan across this blog when I was looking for some Amhad Jamal... and discovered that every compilation on here (at least of the 8 or 9 that I've downloaded) is chock-full of excellent music. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments guys :)
ReplyDeleteBernd - I can't keep up with Mediafire deletions, you'll have to grab the Rapidshare one. Thanks Davexy and Soul Gentleman for the connections, will follow those up!
Cheers Simon, this is most enjoyable as usual. Music I'd probably never hear otherwise if not here. I shouldn't be DLing this at all really since I'm in Japan which now has the harshest punishment in the world for such a heinous crime. 2 years jail for DLing, 10 years for Upping! Jeezus! Gimme a break. Go catch some real lawbreakers why doncha? Anyway, thanks again & good luck, out there in the free(?) world! (Sadly) iAnonymous.
ReplyDeleteHope you don't get caught, anonymous! Thanks for the comment.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Simon - all the best for 2013
ReplyDeleteLovely comp Simon.
ReplyDeleteA very prosperous 'n' Jazzy 2013 to ya.
Cheers ;)
Great as usual. Thanks a lot, and keep it up.
ReplyDeleteRadek
Great compilation as usual Simon.
ReplyDeleteThis is a reminder that I should be listening to Brazilian Jazz
more often than I seem too these days.
Good to hear Gilberto Gil again as well-a real old favourite of mine.
Hope you post more in 2013.
Thanks.
Youch! Anonymous, you should move to Canada! Non-commercial infringement is capped at $5000 with a minimum of $100, and thus far I believe there has not been a single successful prosecution.
ReplyDeletebut that doesn't mean it isn't still kind of dumb: kat.ph released their top 50 torrent searches for 2012 and there's not a single music search in the list; most searches are for foreign language TV shows (probably because the DVD providers won't ship locally)
So I will agree here with thanks for the rhodes scholarship, always interesting, always appreciated, and long may you run.
btw, I notice a lot of mp3 blogs, those that aren't closing, are moving to some of the smaller share sites like zippyshare. I have no idea if those are free or better or laden with warez, it is just an observation on an alternative ;)
Superb mix - many thanks.
ReplyDeleteCheers Simon, as you rightly say you can never have enough................
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year !!
