4 x italian jazz

Well hi everyone. I'm going to an island with no internet for a week ...

While I'm away, here are some generous donations that came in after the last Romano Mussolini post. Please thank Ish and Arkadin for these!

Hey Simon, my turn to wish you better days...

Hope you enjoy your island getaway - you deserve it and it sounds like you need it too.

All the best and thanks for turning me on to this blog world and so much great music in '08!

Thank you Ish and Arkadin! Have a good break on the island Simon. Thanks.

thanks ! never seen theses soundtracks before.

Of the soundtracks, particularly recommend the 'Satanik' one, great textures ...

Gianni aka Cesare Barbetta said...

thank you Simon!
I was looking for Satanik,
it was a cult lp in Italy.
have a good christmas,
thanks again to everyone for their contributions

Nearly 200 downloads for Kriminal and Satanik so far and... 7 comments! Now this is what I would call a little disproportional. Blogland seems to be full of silent, sociopathic leechers... Not really motivating! May I join you on your island, Simon? ;-)

hey arkadin -

Yep that's a pretty standard ratio for blogland.

You and all other generous people are welcome to join me on Lord Howe island (which has one very slow internet connection), here's a pic :

Thanks again for your shares here and at the other blogs ....

fritz the cat: I left the PW at the MediaFire File Info to the right.
Well, maybe I overreacted a little when I saw the download stats and the 7 comments only... I will remove the passwords hoping that my childish action results in at least some guys reconsidering their manners.
This is Simon's blog anyway and I have no right to use it as platform for my thoughts about sharing, being a blog community, respect and so on.

No worries. I just don't understand when bloggers get annoyed about the lack of comments - it's simply the nature of the beast.

Sometimes people have the best intention to go back and comment and then they forget (I only comment on about 60% of the stuff I get, for example), some people didn't like what they downloaded but don't want to say so, some of the downloaders are automated scripts, and I wouldn't be surprised if the download counters are not 100% accurate. Shouldn't bloggers cherish the comments they got, rather than be upset for the ones who got away?

Perhaps I should start a music blog myself and see what it's like from the other side.

Anyway, thanks for all the music, and happy winterval everyone.

excellent. Satanik is the bomb. Thankx !!!

can you post some records with rhodes and mad ill horns playin together?

Simon666 said...

hey fritz -

yup it's different from the other side - once you put the work in, it matters - not for simple "gratificiation" from a pile of thankyous, but as a completion of the conversation about music that you're starting by posting something ...

Anyway it bothers me sometimes but not other times.

You should do a blog anyway, would be great to hear your stuff - thanks for all your comments here and elsewhere ..

Thanks for unlocking again Arkadin, know how you feel :)

Thanks for comments Soulfinga, Cheeba, Flormega, Hanimex 3000, Gianni, Fritz, Solomon, wza, and Rowan B , I hope everyone gets some sort of rest and large amounts of alcohol over the next few days ...

eheheheheh Fritz, Simon, you're both right. Sometimes we post a record that is particularly meaningful to us, or we write what we feel to be a coool review... and therefore we subconsciously expect a large amount of (positive) reactions. Indeed receiving lots of friendly messages would be the norm if the post is well-crafted, but personally I prefer zero comments than a stupid-negative-subjective-unconstructive remark!**

As a blog reader, I just want to find the records I miss, or to grab what makes me curious, especially if it possibly rarely turns up in my area (isn’t that the case for everybody?), and I let a comment when:
- I enjoyed the share AND I remember where I got it,,
- The topic has a lot of comments,
- I have a precision to give/ask. Sometimes I start posting, and finally stop because I don't know how to exactly explain my feelings (I haven't the same ease in english than in french, and that's why hanimex3000 is written in french... apologizes),
- The review is really instructive (not necessarily long).

REQUEST: Friends blog authors, help readers when posting unknown stuff: PLEASE SHARE YOUR OWN IMPRESSIONS ABOUT THE RECORD YOU'RE SHARING (ex. compare the record to other better-known stuff, add a soundclip, links...) it’s always appreciable.

Nice Xmas to y’all… and keep on blogging in 2009!

** As I run two local radio broadcasts for now 3 years I often feel the same about the lack of feedback: I reach 2500 to 5000 listeners each week, and receive about 2 e-mails & 3 phone calls by year!! However I must admit that the French audience is particularly cold, though I've got encouraging results on my related myspace profiles Gorgeous70s & SLAM (probably because of the worldwide access).

THX!!!

Arkadin said...

Thanks for your comment, Simon. I completely agree with you: It's not about collecting thankyous but about having a dialogue about music, giving some feedback and so on...

And thanks for your work - whereever you go there's already a link by Simon (just to mention Groovy Merchant)! ;-)

Happy New Year!

Sergio Fanni's Hard Suite is an old friend of mine, not heard for ages. I only discovered this blog recently, so apart from rediscovering past favourites, I can't wait to take a stroll down some new paths that you have opened up for me.

So thank you.
